Instead of painting Frida Kahlo's portrait, I painted the things that surrounded her.
Inspired by the garden at Casa Azul, this symbolic still life brings together flowers, plants, animals, and objects connected to her life and artwork. Every element was chosen intentionally—from the bird of paradise and calla lilies to the dragonfruit, tequila, hummingbird, and the monarch butterfly resting on a mirror.
